Dear Franklin Community,

After a thorough search for the new Head Boys Basketball Coach, Franklin High School is proud to announce the hiring of Marc Grassman to serve as the Head Boys Basketball coach.
We are excited to add Marc to the Franklin Family of Head Coaches.   Marc brings a well rounded experience from his playing days to his coaching career.   Marc has been around basketball his whole life and while injuries prevented his future opportunities, he has embraced his journey as a coach.  Marc really got into coaching as his children have gotten into sports.  He started with organizing and coordinating a club that was centered around basketball and volleyball.  It was then that he really found his niche in the coaching realm.   From that experience, Marc Grassman found himself  applying and coaching PIL Youth Basketball in the Franklin Cluster with both his sons.  He has spent a few years coaching 6th and 7th graders.  During Marc’s tenure in the youth program he was approached by a former Franklin Head Boys Basketball Coach Scott Aker about Coaching at the Freshman level.   Scott Aker, became a mentor, leader, and inspired Marc’s passion to continue to lead at the High School Level.  Marc has gone on to coach a couple seasons of Freshman Basketball to working his way up the ladder to earn Varsity Assistant status.  Marc has also participated in running summer workouts and leagues in the Franklin Program.   What stands out with Marc is his intrinsic desire to learn the game from those that have had success.  Marc embodies the idea of being a holistic learner within a program where he values his staff and the idea of collegiality.   Another aspect that is tremendously valued is, he has been in the community and around these student-athletes for a while now.   He is respected, valued, and a kid magnet.    Lastly, Marc brings to the table strong organizational skills,  strong communication, as well as some continuity to the program.  We believe in his leadership and the direction of the program.   We are excited for the opportunity Marc has with this program and group of young men who are eager to play for not only a great leader, but an even better person.
